New Rail Plus website offers travel agents faster and smarter online bookings

Friday, 05 October 2012

Rail Plus will unveil a new-look website on Monday October 8 that makes it easier and faster than ever before for travel agents to book international rail journeys.

National Sales & Marketing Manager Greg McCallum says Rail Plus has completely re-designed and re-engineered all elements of its site using the latest cutting-edge technology, including powerful Coldfusion programming language.

"As a result, travel agents will immediately benefit from faster connections, easier navigation and a significantly improved look and feel," says McCallum.

The revamped website also incorporates new features designed to further improve efficiency. These include:

- a new 'mega menu' offering all the regions and destinations under a single drop-down tab, allowing agents to find their desired product more quickly

- a clever search widget that helps locate specific point-to-point tickets, rail passes and travel extras such as sightseeing and transport passes

- a new 'My Rail Plus Favourites' page, enabling agents to compile their favourite point-to-point sectors, passes and travel extras.

"Using 'My Rail Plus Favourites' travel agents can have all of their favourite products available at the click of a button," says McCallum.

Rail Plus revolutionised online rail bookings in 2007 when it used in-house developers to create a stand-alone, customised website giving agents the ability to secure live inventory from major rail operators, including Rail Europe.

Previously consultants could only make a booking by phone or email. Today 90% of Rail Plus bookings are completed online by consultants themselves.

McCallum says new features have continually been added over the past six years in order to further streamline the booking process. However, the company decided it was time to entirely revamp its online platform.

"Rail Plus has established itself as a market leader by providing travel agents with the fastest and easiest access to an unparalleled range of rail products, along with the support of our expert staff," he says.

"Our latest technology investment will deliver immediate benefits to our retail partners, but it also gives us the ongoing capability to continue to introduce innovative products and services whenever we see an opportunity."
