Alaskan Railways Information


  • Large picture windows, forward facing reclining seats, open air vestibules, gift shop on board the Denali Star and Coastal Classic trains, historical route maps and the Alaska Railroad's Onboard magazine are provided

GoldStar Service

Service includes:

  • Confirmed seating in the upper level car (pictured below bottom right)
  • Glass-dome ceilings
  • Comfortable forward-facing seats
  • Upper-level outdoor viewing platforms
  • Inclusive meal in the lower-level, full-service dining car
  • Private bar and two complimentary adult beverages (for passengers over 21 years) & unlimited soft beverages
  • Priority check-in and boarding
  • Alaskan tour guide providing narration
  • Fully accessible


Adventure Class

Service includes:

  • Passengers are seated on the lower level of the train (pictured below bottom left)
  • Access to a vista dome car, but there is no assigned seating in that dome. Passengers may visit the vista dome car for about 20 minutes at a time, to allow other passengers to sit in the dome (pictured below bottom right)
  • Adventure class passengers may walk through all of the Adventure cars, but may not enter the GoldStar dome



An E-voucher will be issued which can simply be printed and redeemed at the station.


Passengers are permitted two pieces of checked baggage (of under 22kg per piece) and one piece of carry on. Two extra pieces of baggage may be checked for an additional fee, payable locally. A handling fee may also apply to oversized baggage, bicycles and other recreational equipment. Camping/motor fuel and hazardous items are not permitted on board the Alaskan railroad.
