rail plus cinque terre

Discover the stunning sights of Cinque Terre

The Cinque Terre or 'The Five Lands', is a coastal area comprising of 5 incredibly beautiful small coastal villages in the Italian region of Liguria

The Cinque Terre consists of Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore, all located on North East coast of Italy.

The most common way to get to the Cinque Terre by train from the North of Italy is to go via Genoa or Levanto. If you are coming from the South to the Cinque Terre, the best start point is La Spezia.

Once you get to Levanto or La Spezia you will need to take a regional train to get to one of the 5 villages. There are up to 25 services a day that run this routing in each direction, so you will never have to worry if you miss one.

Train services operate year round to the Cinque Terre, making it very easily accessible and convenient. You are able to use these trains with any Eurail Pass that covers Italy, however if you are taking a fast train to Levanto or Genoa, be aware that you may need to have a compulsory seat reservation for some services. Regional trains do not require a seat reservation.

How do I travel between the Cinque Terre villages?

There is a regular local rail service that operates throughout the day between all the Cinque Terre Villages from Levanto to La Spezia.

Note: Although your Rail Pass allows travel between the Cinque Terre towns it is recommended that you purchase a Cinque Terre Train Card as the most cost effective way to travel. The Card is valid for 1, 3, or 7 Days unlimited travel. This can only be purchased once in Italy.
